Writing Reveries
"It ain't easy being a lady on the seas, mate."
Personality: Adventurous, Witty,
Clever, Jack of all trades.
Bio: Orphaned at the age of twelve by
a village raid conducted by a wicked
nobleman that left half of the
quaint, little town destroyed, Vera's
quiet life was abruptly changed in an
irreversible manner. Her father, though
a simple blacksmith, had tried to ward
off the attackers and paid for it with his
life. A flash and thunderous bang, so quick the eye could not catch until it was too late and a gun claimed a soul. Her mother was even less fortunate - taken prisoner by the noble's soldiers when she protested the injustice of it all, and later fell prey to a flu epidemic. Vera had managed to hide away in a secret room at her house, but when she emerged from the hideaway she had wished she hadn't.
Without anyone to take care of her, Vera left her her home once she saw her father buried and learned to fend for herself. A few weeks or so after the incident, an exploration by the edge of the woods and near the sea found the girl unexpectedly staring at a beautiful ship hiding in one of the coves. Pirates. Curiosity led her forward to get a closer look at the magnificent vessel. She had made it within fifty yards of the mysterious beauty before she was spotted by a large, burly shipmate. Upon spying the unknown lass, the man immediately stalked towards her, sword in hand.
Feeling uneasy but determined, Vera planted her feet in the ground and drew her father's sword from her side to defend herself. It was foolish of her to approach the ship to begin with when its hidden location clearly indicated mischief, but she was drawn to it like a moth to flame for the sense of freedom such a structure afforded. A deep desire to escape this land and her tragic past along with it welled up inside her, and she would be damned if she didn't at least get a glimpse of what such freedom tasted like. Even if it got her killed right here and now on this godforsaken beach.
The Captain saw this from above on the deck and ordered the man to halt. It was unusual for someone so young to draw a weapon against a pirate, let alone a girl. An unprecedented offer followed which left Vera shocked - she had been given the chance to join the crew. With nowhere else to go, a need to get away from a place with such rotten memories and a longing to explore, she accepted the invitation.
Ten years later, a twenty-two year old Vera finds herself to be one highly skilled pirate with a love for the sea... and perhaps a certain seafaring comrade as well. Or maybe someone on the opposite saw of the law - Military Officer, Governor, Royal Guard, etc. All sorts of encounters can happen when travel is involved.
